DERMAPLANING / EPIDERMAL LEVELING
- Epidermal Planing & Lactic
- Recommended with Alternating Chemical Peels
DermaPlaning, also known as Epidermal Leveling, removes the outer most layers of dead skin cells leaving the skin immediately smooth, supple and vibrant. Epidermal Leveling is another non-traumatic method of skin rejuvenation. It is safely performed by using a sterile surgical blade. The blade is held at an angle and safely, painlessly removes dead skin cells and oil-drawing vellus hair. Our practitioner has been performing and teaching this procedure for over twelve years with amazing results! Benefits of Epidermal Leveling include increased absorption of active products, increases the firmness and elasticity of the skin, minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, corrects some forms of acne and reduces scar tissue.

What DermaPlaning Is:
DermaPlaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz).
Because DermaPlaning is a quick procedure with few to no adverse effects, it has quickly gained popularity among cosmetic medical providers across the country. Using a blade and a delicate touch, we skim the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes. No pain, no cutting, no bleeding.
This is a great treatment for patients who don't want to go through the delayed "peeling phase" that requires downtime, patients who are pregnant or nursing and want a deep exfoliation, but don’t want or aren’t allowed to use chemicals that could be absorbed into the bloodstream and affect their unborn child, and patients who want to feel the immediate gratification of physically exfoliated tissue. It is also a first choice for patients who have excess vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the skin. **Many women with Middle Eastern or Spanish genes have darker facial hair they want to remove without the risks or chemicals or laser. It reduces the spread of sebum (oil) that is pulled up to the surface like a wick in oil and adheres to the fine strands that sit on the face.
Hair will NOT grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.
What DermaPlaning Isn’t:
DermaPlaning is sometimes erroneously thought to be similar to dermabrasion. It’s NOTHING like dermbrasion. Dermabrasion is a medical procedure in which the skin is abraded down to the dermis using a wire brush. There are many complications associated with dermabrasion, including infections and scarring, which is why it is not commonly used anymore. (Dermabrasion and Microdermabrasion are also completely different procedures.)
Dark Spots, Fine Lines, Dull Skin or Breakouts?
Simple Customized for your Tissue Concern Add On's to Boost the Effect:
If you have pores that distress you or skin that’s prone to breakouts, or you feel a little extra exfoliation is in order, top off with an application of salicylic acid to refine your new baby-smooth skin even more. We have an array of tissue concern specific medical grade product which may be infused immediately post treatment. This allows for active ingredients to more effectively reach their target instead of being diffused by layers of dead skin cells.
Zero downtime, no side effects other than a little pinkness. You can repeat treatments every 21 days and more often after your first 4 depending on your tissue concerns. All that new skin will be sensitive, so do use sunscreen.
